Moored starboard side to USS STEWART (DD224) Guam, Marianas Islands. USS CONTROL (SM164) moored alongside to port. Receiving power form a 75 k.w. generator ashore.

0832, USS CONTROL (AN164) got underway from the port side.

0900, Lt. (jg) V. B. LAWHEAD made Material Inspection.

1005, began taking on fresh water from the dock.

1052, completed taking on fresh water, 6,913 gallons received.

1715, motor for generator out on TBS. Trouble consists of lack of power. TBS inoperative.

Sunday, Dec. 2

0912, Commander Gordon ABBOTT (D) USNR, 84532 detached without relief in accordance with AdCominPac dispatch 292306 of November 1945 and AdCominPac speedletter P 16-4/00/622 serial number61-3309 of 7 November 1945.

1053, secured power from dock.

1125, underway with aid of tugs to shift berths.

1149, moored starboard side to Peter dock, Island of Guam, Mariannas Islands with four (4) five (5) inch manila lines all doubled up.

1520, commenced taking power from 75 kw generator on shore.

Monday, Dec. 3

1310, GARNER, Charles R., SM1c, 347-00-37, USN, was transferred with baggage, records, and pay accounts to Naval Fleet Hospital #103, Guam, Marianas Islands, for medical treatment.

1640, completed taking on 5044 gallons of fresh water.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

1410, pursuant to ComServPac Ltr. 9463-66 March 1945 the following men reported aboard for duty from Navy #926: SETARO, Edmund J. RdM3c, 812-18-18, V6, USNR; CAMPBELL, George C. S2c, 756-46-73, V6, USNR; CAPOZZOLI, Herman A. S2c, 953-59-59, USN-I; DOWNS, Robert L. Jr., S1c, 759-13-57,USN; GOMM, Victor F., S2c, 209-46-58, V6, USNR; GORDON, Dale W., S2c, 343-38-81, V6, USNR; MOORE, Lloyd W., S1c, 863-21-69, V6, USNR; NASH, Harold L., S1c, 730-65-67, V6, USNR.

Friday, Dec. 7

1353, made weekly inspection of magazines and sprinkling system — conditions unsatisfactory. Lack of pressure in linesand valve in forward fire line.

Saturday, Dec. 8

0906, pursuant to ALNAV 395-45 LOCKARD, Stanley (n) Brk3c (T) 856-40-37,SV6 USNR transferred to receiving station this date, Guam Marianas Islands for transportation to a staging center for further processing.

1050, Magazine temperatures normal.

1407, pursuant to BuPers circular Letter 28-45 PAYNE, Harold E. 273-48-95 V6 USNR, was transferred with sea bag and hammock, records and pay accounts to the commanding officer, Receiving Station Guam, Marianas Islands for transportation to the nearest Receiving Station on the West coast for 30 days emergency leave and further assigment by ComWestSeaFron.

Sunday Dec. 9

0937, Commenced taking fresh water from dock.

1000, pursuant to BuPers dispatch of 1 Sept. 1945, Lt. R. L. LONG, USNR and Ens. J. V. K. DAVIDSON, USNR reported for duty on board this vessel.

1029, completed taking fresh water, having received 7, 684 gallons.

Monday, Dec. 10

1050, pursuant to AlNav 395-45 the following men were transferred with baggage, records and pay accounts to Receiving Station, Guam, M. I. for further transfer to a staging center for further processing: BAKER, C. W. GM3c, 840-68-08, USN-I; CHERRY, A. R. MoMM3c (T) 938-66-89, USN-I

1330, secured from taking power from shore.

1334, underway with USS PCE886 moored alongside to port.

1344, moored starboard side to Oboe Dock, Guam M.I. with four five inch manila lines in use.

1500, commenced taking power from 75 KW generator.

Tuesday, Dec. 11

1158, pursuant to ComServPac ltr. serial 9463-66, DAVIS, Charles A. Jr. 720-53-75, S1c (PDM) V6, USNR and TOTMAN, Kenneth C., 570-57-01, S1c V6, USNR reported aboard this vessel for duty.

1630, pursuant to Commander Marinanas ltr P-16-4/00/FF12/04 Rp., Serial G 1874 Lt. (jg) Albert B. CRANWELL, Jr. USNR was detached from duty on board this vessel and ordered to proceed to the nearest Staging Center for transportation to the United States for demobilization.

Wednesday, Dec. 12

0820, commenced making preparations to move ship ten feet astern of present position.

0910, moved ship to new berth. Moored starboard side to Oboe Dock, Guam, Marianas Islands, with four five inch manila lines to the dock. Receiving electricity and fresh water from the dock.

0950, commenced transferring fuel oil form starboard to port tanks.

1015, finished transferring fuel oil leaving ship with a four (4) degree list to Port.

Thursday, Dec. 13

1345, pursuant to Alnav 395-45 THOMPSON, O. J. W., GM3c (T), 722-27-51 USNR, was transferred with baggage, records, pay accounts and transfer papers to Receiving Station Guam, M. I. for further transfer to a Staging Center for further processing.

The following men were transferred with baggage, records, pay accounts and transfer papers to U. S. Naval Hospital 103, Guam, M. I. for medical treatment: HAYNES, J. W. S2c, 314-74-81 USN; CARAVELLO, V. M. RT2c, 812-49-37 USNR.

Saturday, Dec. 15

1015, commenced taking on water from the dock into ships tanks.

1055, secured taking on water, 6708 gallons received.

Tuesday, Dec. 18

0840, commenced taking on fresh water.

0918, secured from taking on water from the dock, 5625 gallons fresh water on board.

Friday, Dec. 21

0946, commenced taking on fresh water.

1100, completed taking on fresh water.

Sunday, Dec. 23

1630, BIEBERDORF, C. W. FC3c, 680-60-67 USNR was taken to the Main Dispensary. NOB Guam. TOWNSEND, J. L. S1c, 722-43-82 USNR, while on a beach party was taken to the Base Hospital #103 for medical treatment.

Monday Dec. 24

0930, completed taking on 6383 gals of fresh water.

1000, TOWNSEND, James L. S1c, 722-43-82 transferred to US Naval hospital #103 Guam Marianas Island for medical treatment.

Wednesday, Dec. 26

1110, pursuant to Standard Transfer Orders, USS DEFENSE (AM-317) dated December 26, 1945, MASSEY, Robert Orville, 881-07-15, MoMM3c, USNR with bag and baggage was transferred with orders to report to Receiving Station Navy #926 FFT to Separation Center, Treasure Island, California.

Thursday, Dec. 27

0855, commenced taking of fresh water.

0955 completed taking on fresh water. Received 6,196 gallons.

Friday, Dec. 28

1143, pursuant to ComSerPac letter serial 9463-66 of March 1945 the following men reported aboard this vessel for duty: MILLIAN, Jose J. S1c 957-40-15 USN-I; HAWKS, Ralph D. S2c, 285-65-87, USNR; HEIL, Robert D., S2c, 619-31-14, USNR; JONES, David E., S2c, 629-47-89, USNR.

1450, pursuant to section D-7017 BuPers Manual the following men were transferred from Fleet Hospital 103 to this vessel: TOWNSEND, J. L., S1c USNR; CARAVELLO, V. M. RT2c USNR.

0900, Captain’s inspection of personal and material.

1125, secured form captain’s inspection.

Monday, Dec. 31

Moored starboard side to Oboe Dock, APRA Harbor, Guam, Marianas Islands. Receiving electricity from the dock.

0805, Mustered the crew on stations — no absentees.

0840, made daily inspection of magazines and smokeless powder samples — conditions normal.
