Enroute from Nagoya, Honshu, Japan to Guam, Marianas Islands, on various courses and speeds. 1147, took departure from Honshu, Japan. 2111, sighted ship on horizon bearing 190 degrees T, distance 12 miles later identified as DE 568 in convoy with 13 ships. 2230, sighted ship on horizon bearing 222 degrees T, 12.5 miles. Friday, Nov. 2 Underway as before. Traveling singly. Saturday, Nov. 3 0025, advanced ships clocks one (1) hour to comply with (-10) time zone. WALDER, 422202 C (L) USNR was detached and ordered to report to Commander, Administrative Command, Minecraft, Pacific Fleet. Sunday, Nov. 11 1035, NELSON, Malcolm W. S1c, 293 19 14 USNR transferred to U. S. Naval Hospital, Base 18, Guam, Marianas Islands, for treatment. Baggage, records and transfer papers accompanied patient. Treated by MELVILLE, David M. PhM1c, and was taken to Medical Officer ashore where wound was closed with three sutures. Returned to ship for duty, physically fit.
