Stories and personal memories of that year and a half while Papa was at war give us insight into a family trying to get by in Henryetta, Oklahoma in 1945. I've begun gathering stories and recollections from all of my family members - some are personal memories, and some are stories that were told by Papa. We all remember things a little bit differently, and I was very young when I heard some of the stories from Papa, so there's no telling if I remember them correctly or not. I'm inclined to think my Father, Aunts and Uncles would remember more accurately.
We can also see how the war was portrayed in the form of posters and newspaper sections. It's fascinating. |
