Bill Johns, son of Lt. Albert Johns, has given me a few photographs and documents to post. I'm working on the documents, and these are the photos he sent. Click on the thumbnails for larger versions.

A note about Lt. Johns from Wilbert Berry -

" I was reviewing the picture of Mr Johns. Did you know he was pushed from behind at fire fighting school [he was on the nozzle] and went over the railing and was burned real bad. He was gone from the detail for at least a month, and he was scarred up pretty bad when he came back. People on the back end of the hose tend to get carried away and keep pushing, because they do not feel the heat and did not realize you must sweep the flame a head of you any pocket left behind will flash and burn your kiester. My recollection of Mr. Johns was that he was a fine Officer."

Lt. Johns also kept some of the memos and orders issued by his commanding officer during their time aboard ship. Visit the "Correspondence" page for copies of these orders.
